Wide Shoes... again!

Since one of my first blog posts was about wide shoes, I feel it only appropriate to start my blog back up with a wide shoe post! I couldn’t let it sit on my last entry which featured me “loving” Ivanka Trump. I am not sure any of my feelings toward her family are appropriate for public posting so we will leave it at that!

Back to the post, I needed some new wide athletic shoes to go with my new gym membership. I feel like such a cliche joining a gym during New Year! The Adidas outlet had none, the Reebok outlet had none and pointed me towards men's shoes, and the Nike outlet had two different choices – this one felt the best.

I bought the shoe even though I wasn’t super stoked about the black on black design, but I also bought new shoelaces and that makes me very happy!

Here you have it, my new athletic shoes and possibly the one pair that fits me in Charleston and a new blog post to get my rambling ideas back up and "running." Get it? ;)

Holiday Fashion

I need to pull out my sewing machine and make an attempt at clothes again. I have mastered the art of the straight seam; as in curtains, duvet covers, blankets, and pillows... but the elusive clothes patterns have stumped me for years. I may have found my motivation...

In thinking about holiday parties this year, I always like to buy a little something new for myself to wear. When I saw Carrie Underwood's performance on Jimmy Fallon, I thought, "That is it! A fun holiday skirt!" Pair it with a black sweater and some tights (things I already have) and it looks so cute.

Now, if I could only look a little more like Carrie Underwood, the Holidays would be complete! haha I don't think I have enough money for that.

...but...

Apparently I don't have enough money for that skirt either. Here is the closest thing I could find.

Even on sale, this one is out of my price range at $596.00! If anyone has any leads on where I could find a similar skirt less than $100, give me a shout, but for now I think I will be making an attempt with the old Singer machine. I should have it done in time for Holidays 2014!

Do the Rich Rebate?

As I am sitting here filling out my rebate form for the $45 dollars I will get back from buying my contacts, I start to wonder why in the heck they don't just give you the money off when you order them? Why do I still have to fill out and send in a stupid form?

I think I know why... because it is a pain. Lazy people and rich people probably don't bother with the rebate shenanigans, especially since it takes 6-8 weeks to get your check back and costs you a stamp, not to mention your time. Can you imagine Donald Trump downloading and filling out a rebate form? I would also venture to guess that 75% of rebate users are women, maybe even more.

So, thus, the companies don't automatically give you the money because...

"41% of people forget to send in their rebates." - techdirt.com

This is not surprising, but I am not included in that percentage. I will not buy something ONLY because it has a rebate, but I will likely be persuaded to buy that particular brand, try a new brand, or even buy more to meet the rebate's requirements.

I don't have a ton of money to burn and I try to look at it as a little surprise for down the road. Most likely I will have forgotten that I have sent in said rebate and then one unsuspecting day, bam, a check is in the mail. I like free money!

Forget Me Not

I did get the most amazing pillow yesterday night! I was so excited I took a picture of myself holding it in the parking lot. :)

I must say, that after sleeping on it all night last night, it did not disappoint! I am very excited to go to bed tonight. I could fall asleep right now actually...

Anyways, when I walked into the store, the SAME sales guy was there! I told him I was back for my pillow because I was so excited to get the Groupon!

He stared at me blankly.

I reminded him that my husband and I were just in and bought a mattress and I really loved the pillow and that he was the one that was trying to get me to buy it and everything ... and he still stared at me blankly.

I am not reaching here, but this sales guy and I talked at LENGTH about this pillow, we spent close to $2,500 in his store, we were the only ones in there, and supposedly his only sale of the day. We talked about how he just graduated from college, he told us what his favorite mattress was, his favorite pillow - I mean, we talked for about an hour with this guy less than a week ago... and he had no clue who I was.

Even when I told him that we were the ones who ordered the California King that needed to be special delivered... still.no.clue.

I would say this guy does not have a bright future in sales. I know it is a mattress store, but that was a bit incredible, especially for a young fella!

Apparently I am old now and I call people "fellas." Or young bucks. :)

Back to the pillow - I love it.

Pillow Talk

I about died when I saw the price tag of the pillow I was laying on at the mattress store. I just fell in LOVE with it! But not the $129.99 price tag. So, we left with our new mattress purchased, but still thinking about the Coconut Bliss Pillow by YuMe.

I haven't been actively search for a pillow, but I really haven't been happy with my pillow for a long time now. I even tried to replace it recently, but that pillow ended up in our guest room, and although nice, it just wasn't for me, and that is why I was so excited to find one I loved! It is just so expensive so I had to think about it...

Well, guess what?!? I found a Groupon in my email this morning giving you $80 to spend on accessories at Mattress Firm (where I found the pillow) for a $20 purchase from Groupon! I bought it. Almost immediately. I can't wait to head there tonight for my new pillow! When all is said and done it will cost me $70 instead of $130. Happy Day! :)
From Charleston, South Carolina to your computer. I hope you enjoy. :)
